Gamescom 2026: Guns of Eschaton demo and Japanese developer market inspection

At gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany, Eschatology Entertainment showcased a demo for its upcoming title, ‘Guns of Eschaton’. The game is described as a soulslike first-person shooter set in a post-apocalyptic American West, blending Western motifs like revolvers with occult and monster elements.

Combat in ‘Guns of Eschaton’ emphasizes precision over rapid fire. Players utilize a ‘Cherokee Codex’ to identify specific ‘Sequence Points’ on enemies, requiring them to strike targets in a particular order to maximize damage. The gameplay incorporates 19th-century firearm mechanics, including manual hammer cocking and slow, deliberate reloading processes.

In a separate development related to the event, the ‘Global Game Growth Gateway’ program conducted a market inspection of the European gaming industry. Supported by the Agency for Cultural Affairs, the initiative sent Japanese developers and leaders to gamescom to study European market characteristics and publishing methods, aiming to facilitate the global expansion of Japanese game titles.
