Gamescom 2026 to host record exhibition area in Cologne

Gamescom 2026 is set to take place in Cologne, Germany, from August 25 to August 30. The event is expected to break records, with the Koelnmesse reporting a fully sold-out exhibition area of 233,000 square meters and an anticipated 350,000 visitors.

The event kicks off on August 25 with the Opening Night Live (ONL) showcase, hosted by Geoff Keighley. The two-hour broadcast will feature a mix of paid promotional slots and editorially selected titles, with a specific emphasis on providing visibility to independent developers. Confirmed titles for the showcase include Gears of War: E-Day, Final Fantasy VII Revelation, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past, Ananta, Metro 2039, and a live musical performance for Mewgenics.

Major industry players are preparing significant presences. Tencent Games has announced its largest lineup to date, including titles like Animula Nook, and will debut its LightSpeed AI platform at gamescom dev. Microsoft is also scheduled to host dedicated sessions on August 26 and 27, featuring updates on Xbox and titles such as Fable and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Additionally, publishers like 2P Games will showcase various indie titles, ranging from simulation games to action shooters.
