Gamescom Award 2026 nominees announced with Metro 2039 leading

The Gamescom Award 2026 nominees have been announced, revealing shortlists across several major categories. The post-apocalyptic shooter Metro: 2039, developed by 4A Games and Deep Silver, leads the preliminary round with five nominations, including “Most Epic Project” and “Best Visuals.”

Other prominent nominees include the horror title Alien: Isolation 2, which holds four nominations, and the indie success Denshattack!, which also earned four nominations. Denshattack! is competing in categories such as Best Gameplay, Best Audio, and Most Entertaining.

In the Best Nintendo Switch 2 Game category, nominees include Mega Man: Dual Override, Rayman Legends Retold, Nintendo Switch Sport Resort, OPUS: Prism Peak, and Denshattack!. SEGA also secured significant recognition with eight total mentions across its portfolio, including Total War: WARHAMMER 40,000 and STRANGER THAN HEAVEN.

The final winners will be determined by a combination of votes from an international jury of industry journalists and bloggers, alongside the event audience.
