Gamescom showcases major upcoming video game titles

The Gamescom trade fair in Cologne is showcasing a diverse range of upcoming video game titles, including survival horror, action, and platformers. Attendees have the opportunity to preview highly anticipated games before their official release.

One of the most significant highlights is Square Enix’s ‘Final Fantasy VII: Revelation’, the final installment in the role-playing series. Game Director Naoki Hamaguchi announced the return of the ‘Arma’, massive guardians that players must battle in various environments including deserts, underwater, and in the air. The title will feature a new summoning called ‘Typhon’, parachute exploration, and the ‘W. E. A. R.’ system, which allows players to unlock specific skills and roles through unique outfits. The game is scheduled for release in spring 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.

Other notable titles mentioned include ‘Silent Hill: Townfall’, which is set in the Scottish town of St. Amelia in 1996.
