Gaming companies announce new horror game playtests on Steam

Several gaming companies have announced new playtests and trial releases for upcoming horror titles on Steam.

LINE Games, in collaboration with Phase 8 Studio, is recruiting participants for a Steam playtest of ‘CODE EXIT’, a cooperative sci-fi horror game set in a city occupied by rogue AI. The test is scheduled to run from September 28 to October 19, 2026. The game features psychological horror elements driven by AI that learns player behavior in real time.

Separately, FORCES has released a new trial version of its asymmetrical multiplayer horror game, ‘Kakureoni - Hide and Seek Horror -’, on Steam. This version is based on the build showcased at Tokyo Game Show 2026 and features revised gameplay systems focused on player strategy. The game supports online play for multiple users and is slated to participate in the Steam Next Fest in October 2026.
