Gaming industry updates: Tokyo Game Show 2026 plans and new releases

Various announcements have been made regarding the gaming industry, including preparations for Tokyo Game Show 2026 and new product releases.

At Tokyo Game Show 2026, AVerMedia Technologies will showcase streaming and video production equipment, including capture devices, webcams, and microphones. Sega and Atlus will host several stage events for ‘STRANGER THAN HEAVEN’, featuring guests such as Dean Fujioka and Yu Shirota.

In software updates, GSC Game World has released ‘S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Cost of Hope’, a large-scale expansion for ‘S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl’. This update also includes a transition to Unreal Engine 5.5.4, improving lighting, AI, and ecosystems. Additionally, the roguelike action game ‘Void Reaver’ is set for a Steam early release on November 11, 2026.

Square Enix has also announced new ‘Dragon Quest’ merchandise, including a ‘Smile Slime’ Japanese-style series featuring items such as noren curtains, tenugui towels, and pouches, scheduled for release on December 8.
