Gaming trends and retail activations expand in Chile and Peru
Gaming trends and activities are seeing significant engagement in South America. In Chile, a study by Ibope reveals that 56% of the population plays video games, with the highest penetration among youth aged 15 to 24, reaching over 70%. While smartphones are the primary device for gaming at 56%, consoles remain the preferred choice for future purchases, with PlayStation leading consumer interest at 23%, followed by Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
In Peru, the retailer Tambo is celebrating Gamer Month by introducing “Tambo Arcade.” The initiative transforms select stores in Chorrillos and Santiago de Surco into gaming spaces featuring classic arcade-style machines, including titles inspired by Pac-Man, Tetris, Galaga, and Pinball. Customers can access these machines through a loyalty system, and the brand is hosting competitions with prizes such as gift cards and gaming consoles.
