Gaming updates: Armatus release date and ARC Raiders free access event

Counterplay Games and publisher Fictions have announced Armatus, a third-person roguelite action shooter set in a demonic version of Paris. Scheduled for release on January 7, 2027, the game will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. The Xbox version will launch on Game Pass on day one. Players take on the role of a supernatural warrior fighting through the ruins of the city to find the Sunless Gate.

Separately, Embark Studios has announced a limited-time free access event for its PvPvE extraction shooter, ARC Raiders. From October 8 to October 12, 2026, players can experience the full game for free on Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation. Progress made during this period will carry over to the full version for those who purchase the game. This event coincides with the launch of the Frozen Trail expansion, which introduces the Pendola Pass map, new enemies, and updated weaponry.
