Gandia hosts Correllengua 2026 to promote Valencian culture

Gandia hosted the Correllengua 2026, an event dedicated to the defense and promotion of Valencian language, culture, and identity. Held at Plaça Rei Jaume I, the program included children's workshops, poetry, music, and traditional dances.

A central highlight of the celebration was a tribute to the late poet Josep Piera, a key figure in contemporary Valencian literature. During the ceremony, Melània Bañó, the poet's daughter, carried the Correllengua flame, accompanied by traditional music from Colla de la Safor and performances by the Muixeranga de la Safor and Roda i Volta.

The event was organized by Casal Jaume I de la Safor-Valldigna and Acció Cultural del País Valencià (ACPV), with support from the Gandia City Council and various local cultural entities.
