Gandia issues ultimatum to regional government over vocational training center

The Gandia City Council has issued an ultimatum to the Generalitat Valenciana regarding the stalled construction of the Integrated Public Vocational Training Center (FP). Mayor José Manuel Prieto and local officials visited the proposed site to demand an immediate response from the Ministry of Education.

Local authorities state that all necessary technical documentation, including new land delimitation and flood studies, was submitted to the regional government on August 19, but no response has been received. The project is considered a strategic infrastructure for the Safor region, intended to host 25 different degree programs to improve local employability and meet business needs.

Urbanism Coordinator Mayte Alonso proposed that if the Generalitat does not begin the bidding process for the project's drafting within 15 days, the city should have its management competencies returned. The City Council has committed to launching the bidding process before the end of 2026 if they regain direct control over the project.
