As Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations occur, guidance has been provided regarding religious rituals and the sustainable reuse of ceremonial materials.

According to astrologer Kalki Ram from Ayodhya, certain items should be avoided during worship. Specifically, Tulsi leaves should not be offered to Lord Ganesha, and offerings (bhog) should remain sattvic, meaning they must not contain garlic or onions. While Modaks, laddus, fruits, and Durva grass are appropriate, worshippers are advised against using withered or dried flowers for the ceremony.

To manage the surplus of flowers following the puja, several eco-friendly reuse methods are suggested. Spent flowers can be converted into compost for plants after removing non-biodegradable elements like wire or plastic. Additionally, fresh petals can be dried to create potpourri, incense sticks, or natural dyes. Dried flowers can also be used for floral art, such as pressed flower crafts or decorative arrangements in glass jars.
