Legal developments reported across various Indian states

Several legal and judicial developments have occurred across India. In Rajasthan, independent MLA Ganeshraj Bansal was granted bail by a District and Sessions Court following his arrest and brief period of judicial custody. His case involves a 23-year-old land dispute regarding the alleged fraudulent issuance of lease deeds by the Hanumangarh Municipal Council in 2003.

In Jammu and Kashmir, the High Court upheld the preventive detention of a Kupwara resident under the Public Safety Act, ruling that the detention was based on fresh material. Separately, the court transferred an investigation into an alleged fake judicial decree and record fabrication in Baramulla to the Crime Branch Kashmir, ordering a Special Investigation Team to probe the conspiracy.

In Madhya Pradesh, the CBI has opposed bail for former district judge Giribala Singh in the Twisha Sharma death case, citing potential risks to witnesses and evidence. Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh High Court quashed a detention order, ruling that preventive detention orders must be supported by cogent reasons and specific records regarding public order impact.

Additionally, the Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau has launched an internship program for law students to promote transparency and ethical governance through exposure to government department functions.
