Ganga Expressway faces new cracks in Unnao after repairs
Large cracks have reappeared on the Ganga Expressway in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, appearing in areas that had recently undergone patchwork repairs. This marks the second major incident of road damage within ten days following heavy rainfall.
Previous issues on the 594-kilometer expressway, which connects Meerut to Prayagraj, include soil erosion, sinking roads, and the formation of a 10-meter deep pit near the Meerut-Prayagraj carriageway. In July, a seven-meter approach road near the Sonic Toll Plaza was also damaged due to embankment erosion.
The recurring damage has raised significant concerns regarding construction quality, the effectiveness of recent repairs, and the adequacy of the project's drainage systems. The Ganga Expressway is a major infrastructure project valued at approximately ₹36,230 crore, passing through 12 districts.
