Gangbuk-gu expands support for elderly driver license surrender
Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, is expanding its support program for elderly drivers who voluntarily surrender their driver's licenses to improve road safety and prevent traffic accidents. Starting on the 15th, the initiative targets residents aged 70 and older (born on or before December 31, 1956).
Under the expanded program, drivers who surrender their licenses receive a 200,000 won Seoul metropolitan transportation card. Additionally, those who provide proof of vehicle transfer or scrapping can receive an extra 200,000 won Gangbuk-gu transportation card, bringing the total support to 400,000 won.
The provided cards can be used for buses, subways, taxis, and at convenience stores. Residents can apply for license surrender alone at their local community center, or apply for the additional vehicle-related support at the Transportation Administration office by submitting relevant documentation.
