Gangbuk-gu implements AI CCTV system to find missing persons
Gangbuk-gu in Seoul has implemented an AI-based high-speed search system designed to accelerate responses to missing person cases, specifically targeting vulnerable groups such as children, dementia patients, and individuals with developmental disabilities.
Utilizing approximately 200 million won in budget from the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the system employs artificial intelligence video analysis to process vast amounts of CCTV footage. It can analyze 100 hours of video in just 7 to 25 minutes, a significant improvement over manual monitoring by operators. The technology allows for searches based on facial features, full-body photos, or specific clothing descriptions. It can also track movement paths by linking multiple cameras and analyze both recorded and real-time footage.
The system generates reports detailing the movement paths of subjects, which will be used to support police searches and investigations. Gangbuk-gu plans to integrate this with the Seoul Smart City safety network to enhance overall public safety and emergency response capabilities.
