Gangdong-gu to open Dongmyeong Neighborhood Park parking lot

Gangdong-gu will begin operating the Dongmyeong Neighborhood Park public parking lot in Godeok-dong on September 1. The project, which has been a long-standing request from local residents for 12 years, was completed with a total budget of 27 billion won, including 8.5 billion won from Seoul city and 18.5 billion won from the district.

The facility features 225 parking spaces, including specialized spots for electric vehicles, the disabled, families, and national merit recipients. It will operate 24 hours a day with a fee of 150 won per five minutes. Discounts are available for various groups, such as an 80% reduction for disabled and national merit vehicles, and a 50% reduction for compact cars, low-emission vehicles, and pregnant women.

The project timeline was extended by approximately three years to relocate the entrance to ensure the safety of students at the nearby Seoul Godeok Elementary School. In addition to the parking facility, a 6,800 square meter soccer field will be constructed on the ground level, scheduled to officially open in October. The Gangdong-gu Urban Management Corporation will manage both the parking lot and the sports facility.
