Ganghwa County Public Health Center receives Ministry of Health and Welfare award

The Ganghwa County Public Health Center has been awarded a commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare at an event celebrating the 80th anniversary of the establishment of public health centers in South Korea. Out of 263 public health centers evaluated nationwide, only 16 were selected as excellent institutions, with Ganghwa County being the sole recipient in the Incheon region.

The evaluation by the Ministry of Health and Welfare considered eight criteria, including historical significance, contributions to regional health, disease prevention, and efforts to support vulnerable populations. Since its establishment in 1962, the center has utilized 26 local health sub-centers to improve medical access for rural and island residents.

Key achievements noted include the establishment of essential medical services such as pediatric and outpatient obstetrics through private hospital partnerships, the creation of rapid response systems for severe emergency patients, and the implementation of integrated care using AI and IoT technologies. Additionally, the center was recognized for its infectious disease response infrastructure, highlighted by the completion of an independent infectious disease response center in 2022.
