Gangnam District Council urges construction of new district office
The Gangnam District Council has adopted a resolution calling for the immediate construction of a new district office to replace the current facility, which was completed in 1975 as a warehouse. The council noted that the 50-year-old building requires significant annual expenditures for maintenance and safety repairs.
Beyond aging infrastructure, the council highlighted that the current facility cannot accommodate rising administrative demands or provide sufficient cultural and welfare spaces for residents. Furthermore, the decentralization of departments across various locations, such as the public health center and urban management corporation, has caused administrative inconvenience for citizens.
The council is demanding that the district office quickly select an optimal site and establish a financial plan for the project. They have also called upon the Seoul Metropolitan Government and relevant national agencies to provide the necessary administrative and institutional support to ensure the project proceeds.
