Gangnam-gu introduces electronic business cards for real estate agents
Gangnam-gu is launching a first-of-its-kind electronic business card service for real estate agents and assistants starting in September. The initiative aims to prevent unlicensed brokerage and increase transaction transparency by allowing residents to verify an agent's registration status and position via mobile devices.
Unlike standard online business cards, these digital cards are issued based on official information reported to the district office. To ensure authenticity, applicants must undergo identity verification using a registered office phone number and a matching business registration number. The cards can be shared via links on platforms like KakaoTalk, text messages, or blogs.
The service covers licensed brokers, affiliated agents, and brokerage assistants, clearly displaying their specific roles to prevent assistants from impersonating representatives. Additionally, the cards will indicate whether an office participates in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s electronic contract system, which helps reduce the risk of document forgery or loss. Gangnam-gu has already seen electronic contract usage rise from 5.04% in 2024 to 12.70% in the first half of this year.
