Gangnam-gu launches parenting support program for new mothers
Gangnam-gu is launching the ‘Dodam Dodam Mother’s Nest’ program to support new mothers and reduce parenting anxiety. Starting September 29, the program will be held every Tuesday at 2:00 PM at the Gangnam-gu Public Health Center as part of an early life health management initiative.
The program is designed for mothers and infants who have received basic visiting services within eight weeks of childbirth. Led by infant health nurses and specialists, the 90-minute sessions cover practical topics including infant safety education, baby massage, postpartum exercises, step-by-step weaning, and child development and play.
The initiative follows a notable increase in local birth rates. In 2025, Gangnam-gu recorded 3,013 births, a 12% increase from the previous year, surpassing the Seoul average growth rate of 9%. This marks the only district in Seoul to see three consecutive years of increasing births.
Applications open on September 1 at 9:00 AM via the Gangnam-gu Public Health Center website on a first-come, first-served basis, with 24 participants (mothers and infants) recruited per session.
