Gangnam-gu partners with Hansaram Foundation to support youth independence

Gangnam-gu has signed a business agreement with the Hansaram Foundation to support the stable social settlement of youth preparing for independence. This group includes young people who have aged out of child welfare facilities or foster care after the age of 18.

The partnership aims to strengthen customized mentoring and emotional support systems to prevent social isolation. Under the agreement, Gangnam-gu will identify mentoring needs and link necessary administrative and welfare services, while the Hansaram Foundation will operate tailored mentoring programs and manage mentor-mentee pairings.

Gangnam-gu has previously implemented various support policies, including providing move-in expenses and employment success bonuses in 2023, and operating the first ‘Gangnam-style independence housing’ in the country in 2024. District Mayor Kim Hyun-ki stated that independence is a collective social responsibility rather than a lonely process for youth alone.
