Jharkhand gangster Sujit Sinha killed in police encounter while being transferred
Gangster Sujit Sinha, a notorious criminal with more than 75 cases including murder, extortion and alleged Pakistan links, was killed in a police encounter in Jamtara district, Jharkhand. The incident occurred as he was being moved from Sahibganj Jail to Dhanbad Jail; police say the transport vehicle suffered a puncture and an accident, after which Sinha attempted to seize a rifle and fire. Responding officers opened fire, resulting in his death.
Jharkhand Police have launched a probe, deploying a forensic science team and a magistrate to oversee the investigation in line with National Human Rights Commission guidelines. Heavy police presence has sealed the area, and authorities are examining the circumstances of the vehicle accident and the encounter.
The case has drawn attention to Sinha's extensive criminal network across multiple districts in the state and ongoing investigations into possible cross‑border connections.
