Gangwon Province hosts various regional festivals and youth programs

Gangwon Province is hosting several initiatives focused on culture, tourism, and youth engagement. The 31st Gangwon Folk Art Festival opened in Chuncheon on October 28, featuring approximately 850 participants from 17 municipalities performing traditional folk arts such as folk songs and agricultural music.

In Wonju, the International Trail Sports Conference (ITSC 2026) is scheduled for November 6–8. Supported by the Korea Tourism Organization, the event aims to discuss the future of trail sports and safety management. Additionally, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) supporters recently participated in a training program linked to the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) World Congress in Gangneung to enhance professional expertise in international event management.

Other regional activities include the ‘Yeonhwa 90’s and Living in a Fishing Village’ project in Yeonhwa Village, which seeks to attract young people to rural fishing communities through subsidized experiential programs. In Geumcheon-gu, youth-led projects are being implemented to address local issues regarding jobs, housing, and culture.
