Ganshoren councillor detained in 100kg cannabis seizure

A 20-year-old municipal councillor from the PS+Citoyens party in Ganshoren has been detained following a police raid involving 100 kilograms of cannabis. The operation, which took place in a garage on Negen Provincieslaan, was initiated after customs officials at Zaventem Airport flagged a suspicious shipment.

The councillor claims he was merely assisting a neighbor with moving boxes as a favor and was unaware of their contents. However, the Brussels Prosecutor's Office stated that the individual is a suspect in a case involving drug importation and membership in a criminal organization. While he has been released under strict conditions, four other individuals remain under arrest warrant.
