Garachico hosts San Roque Pilgrimage with enhanced transport services

The annual San Roque Pilgrimage (Romería de San Roque) took place in Garachico, Tenerife, on August 16. Approximately 10,000 participants joined the procession, which featured 31 carts and 15 small carriages starting from the old pier area.

To accommodate the crowds, the public transport operator TITSA increased capacity on route 363 by providing 23,000 additional seats. The enhanced service connected Puerto de la Cruz, Icod de los Vinos, Garachico, Los Silos, and Buenavista, running from 09:30 until 23:00.

The event, which has been declared of National Tourist Interest, involves traditional music and customs to honor the patron saint. Due to the high volume of attendees, regular bus stops in central Garachico were replaced by a designated stop at a car park near the football field to manage traffic and safety.
