GARBE Urban to build 50 affordable rental units in Barcelona

GARBE Urban Real Estate Spain has acquired two plots of land in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, within the Barcelona metropolitan area, to develop 50 publicly protected rental apartments. The project will cover a total residential area of approximately 4,300 square meters on plots totaling about 2,500 square meters.

Construction is expected to begin later this year, as the municipal building license has already been granted. The project is slated for completion by the summer of 2028. Because these are protected housing units, rental prices will be regulated by the administration rather than the free market, and access will be managed through official applicant lists via the Generalitat.

The development comes amid high demand for housing in the Barcelona province, where data from the second quarter of 2026 indicated an average of 418 interested parties for every rental unit offered.
