Garden Route voters to cast three ballots in local elections

Voters in South Africa’s Garden Route region, including George, Mossel Bay, Knysna, Bitou, Oudtshoorn, Hessequa, and Kannaland, will participate in local government elections on Wednesday, 4 November.

Residents will receive three separate ballot papers to determine municipal representation for the next five years. The first ballot is for a ward councillor, where voters select an individual candidate to represent their specific ward. The second ballot is a proportional representation (PR) vote for a political party to serve on the local municipal council. The third ballot allows voters to choose a political party to represent them on the district council.
