Gardening advice for plant care and seasonal transitions
Various gardening experts provide guidance on maintaining plant health during seasonal transitions and managing common botanical issues.
For Phalaenopsis orchids, experts advise against placing ripe fruit like apples near budding plants, as the ethylene gas can cause bud drop. Instead, stimulating new blooms is best achieved through increased light and cooler night temperatures. Regarding Nerium oleander (oleander), the appearance of green seed pods after flowering is a natural reproductive cycle, but these pods can deplete the plant's energy and potentially hinder future blooms if not managed.
To protect gardens from sudden temperature drops following heatwaves, gardeners should move sensitive potted exotic plants to bright, cool indoor spaces rather than placing them near direct heat. Additionally, avoiding pruning immediately after a cold snap is recommended to prevent fungal infections in stressed tissues. For rose bushes suffering from black spot disease (Diplocarpon rosae), which thrives in humid conditions, natural remedies are suggested to combat the fungal pathogen.
