Gardening guide features Erica carnea and Potentilla fruticosa
Various ornamental shrubs offer distinct seasonal benefits for garden landscaping. Erica carnea, a low, evergreen shrub native to Germany, is noted for its ability to bloom from February to April. Its red-purple flowers can remain vibrant for up to six weeks, providing color when most other garden beds are just beginning to show signs of spring.
Potentilla fruticosa (also known as Dasiphora fruticosa) provides a much longer flowering period, lasting from May or June until October. This shrub comes in approximately 130 varieties with flower colors including white, yellow, orange, pink, and red. The intensity of the color often depends on sunlight exposure: yellow and white varieties thrive in full sun, while orange and pink varieties perform better in light partial shade. These shrubs vary in height from 10 cm creeping forms to upright varieties reaching 1 to 1.5 meters.
