Gardening tips for moss and weed removal using household items

Home and garden maintenance can be managed using common household items to remove moss and prevent weed growth between paving stones. Gardening expert Chris Bonnett suggests that instead of using aggressive chemicals, which can harm plants, soil, and local wildlife, several kitchen staples can be effective.

To remove moss from hard surfaces, one method involves using a carbonated soft drink like Coca-Cola due to its phosphoric acid content. However, this should not be applied to concrete as the acidity may damage the surface. Another option is creating a thick paste with baking soda and water, applying it to the moss for several hours before scrubbing it away.

To prevent grass and weeds from growing between pavers, it is recommended to clean the joints thoroughly and refill them with polymer sand, which hardens upon contact with water to create a barrier. Additionally, sprinkling baking soda over the surface can serve as an effective preventative measure against weed growth.
