Garfagnana authorities appeal for adoption of stray dogs

The Unione Comuni Garfagnana has issued an urgent appeal for the adoption of stray dogs currently being housed in the region. The organization, which manages stray animal services for 15 municipalities, recovered the animals—ranging from puppies to seniors—following reports from law enforcement.

The dogs are being cared for at the Rifugio Valdiflora in San Quirico Pescia, a facility managed through a partnership with the Unione Comuni Garfagnana. The costs for the care and maintenance of these animals are covered by the local government entity.

President of the Unione Comuni Garfagnana, Raffaella Mariani, noted that the number of abandoned dogs in the territory is significant and emphasized the need for citizens to step forward and provide these animals with permanent homes.
