Garissa Hospital set for Level 6 upgrade consultation

Stakeholders and members of the public in Garissa are scheduled to participate in a second public consultation meeting regarding the proposed upgrade of the Garissa Level 5 Teaching and Referral Hospital to a Level 6 facility. The meeting, convened by the State Department for Medical Services, is set for October 8, 2026, at the Government Guest House in Garissa.

The consultation is being conducted in accordance with the Environmental Management and Coordination (Impact Assessment and Audit) Regulations, 2003. The process aims to provide an opportunity for interested parties to submit views, comments, and recommendations. Elevating the facility to Level 6 status is intended to expand specialized healthcare, teaching, and referral services within the region.
