Garlasco murder case: Sempio defense submits new forensic reports

The defense for Andrea Sempio has submitted five technical reports to the Pavia Prosecutor's Office regarding the 2007 murder of Chiara Poggi in Garlasco. These reports aim to challenge the prosecution's evidence through forensic re-evaluations.

Key findings from the defense experts include a claim that the killer's footprint corresponds to a size 40 shoe, which contradicts the size 44 worn by Sempio and the size 42 worn by the previously convicted Alberto Stasi. Additionally, consultants argue that a specific handprint found on a wall (trace 33) does not contain blood, contesting the prosecution's assertion that it is a biological trace linked to the crime.

Regarding DNA evidence, the defense argues that the Y-chromosome found on the victim's fingernails belongs to the Sempio paternal lineage but does not identify a specific individual, nor does it establish a clear timeline for its deposition. Legal counsel Angela Taccia stated that the defense seeks a definitive trial to resolve the long-standing investigation.
