Garlasco murder investigation: new evidence emerges regarding Andrea Sempio

The investigation into the 2007 murder of Chiara Poggi in Garlasco has entered a new phase focusing on Andrea Sempio, an acquaintance of the victim. Sempio is currently under investigation by the Pavia Prosecutor’s Office.

Recent developments include the analysis of digital material seized from Sempio, including videos and personal diaries. Reports indicate the presence of recordings where Sempio discusses themes of violence and sexuality, as well as footage allegedly showing him filming female colleagues without their knowledge. Defense attorney Liborio Cataliotti has stated that new exculpatory evidence will be presented to the judicial authorities to contest the prosecution's theories regarding motive and presence at the crime scene.

Former Ris general Giampietro Lago has also commented on the case, defending the integrity of the Carabinieri and noting that multiple analytical attempts in forensic genetics labs are standard practice.
