Garlasco investigation: new legal requests and links to suspicious deaths

The investigation into the 2007 murder of Chiara Poggi in Garlasco has expanded to include potential connections between several suspicious deaths. Lawyer Fabrizio Gallo is requesting that the Pavia Prosecutor’s Office reopen the case of Dr. Corrado Cavallini, a general practitioner who died in 2012. Cavallini had treated both the family of Giovanni Ferri and the family of Andrea Sempio.

This request follows the reopening of the investigation into Giovanni Ferri, an 88-year-old mechanic found dead in 2010. While initially ruled a suicide, authorities are now conducting genetic analyses on a knife and blood-stained handkerchiefs found near his body. The legal push also seeks to clarify the circumstances surrounding the 2014 death of Sasha Pinna, who was found hanged in Garlasco.

Simultaneously, the judicial situation regarding Andrea Sempio, the current suspect in the Poggi murder, remains critical. The Pavia Prosecutor’s Office is reportedly preparing to request a trial for Sempio for aggravated murder. Meanwhile, the defense for Alberto Stasi, who was previously convicted of the crime, is preparing to seek a judicial review of his sentence.
