Garlasco murder investigation faces evidence challenges

New investigations into the 2007 murder of Chiara Poggi in Garlasco have highlighted significant challenges in reconstructing the crime scene due to the passage of time and historical procedural issues. Experts note that while modern forensic technology, such as advanced geneticists and 3D crime scene reconstruction, has improved significantly since 2007, it cannot recover lost biological samples or restore evidence that was compromised by early investigative errors.

Reports indicate that the original crime scene at the villa on via Pascoli was subject to approximately 25 unauthorized or unshielded entries by investigators and rescuers shortly after the discovery of the body. These entries, some conducted without gloves or shoe covers, along with the presence of a family pet in the house, have raised questions regarding the integrity of any potential DNA or fingerprint evidence found years later.

Additionally, scrutiny has returned to suspicious telephone activity occurring just days before the murder. Investigators are examining a series of calls made to the Poggi residence between August 4 and August 8, 2007. One specific 21-second call has drawn attention, as it represents a departure from the established calling patterns of the individuals involved prior to the incident.
