Garmin announces Edge 1060 with voice control and new navigation features
Garmin has introduced the Edge 1060, a premium cycling computer featuring integrated microphone and speaker capabilities. The device allows riders to use voice commands via the wake phrase ‘Okay, Garmin’ to access ride data, directions, and messages without removing their hands from the handlebars.
Key features include hands-free messaging through the Garmin Messenger app and a digital bike bell function. Navigation upgrades include ‘Route Options’ for selecting paths based on elevation or ride time, ‘Route Previews’ for hazard and traffic summaries, and ‘Up Ahead’ to highlight amenities like restrooms or fuel stations. The device also supports real-time hazard reporting for road closures, potholes, and obstructions.
In a separate product comparison, the Garmin Edge 550 is positioned as a compact, button-operated GPS computer. It offers a broader training and route-planning environment compared to competitors like the Wahoo ELEMNT BOLT 3, though it carries a higher manufacturer list price.
