Garmin Edge 1050 bike computer marks two years as Fenix 8 smartwatch price falls

The Garmin Edge 1050 was launched in June 2024 with a retail price of €749.99. It introduced a 3.5‑inch 480 × 800 touchscreen, a faster processor and a more fluid interface, but its battery life dropped to an official 20 hours (up to 60 hours in power‑save mode), lower than the Edge 1040 Solar’s 45 hours. The trade‑off was a higher‑resolution display that many users prefer for map detail. Competing devices include the Wahoo ELEMNT Ace, which offers about 30 hours of use on a 3.8‑inch screen, and the Coros Dura, which prioritises longer endurance at the cost of a less refined UI.

The Garmin Fenix 8 51 mm stainless‑steel model is now available at MediaMarkt after a price reduction that makes it the cheapest variant in the line. It features a 1.4‑inch AMOLED screen with a 454 × 454 resolution, a large battery and a comprehensive suite of sport and health metrics covering running, cycling, hiking, swimming, strength training, skiing, diving and many other activities. While its size and advanced functions suit elite athletes, the watch may feel bulky on smaller wrists.
