Garmin has released firmware version 22.37 for its Fenix 8 series of smartwatches. Shortly after installation, users reported a drastic reduction in battery life, with the devices dropping from up to seven days of operation to barely a day on moderate use. The fault appears across all Fenix 8 models, including the 43 mm and solar‑assisted versions, and is linked to background system processes that consume over 50 % of the battery.

Garmin has not provided a fix yet, advising affected owners to await a corrective update or, if possible, revert to a previous stable version, albeit at the cost of missing new features. The issue highlights the risks of rapid firmware roll‑outs for wearable devices.
