Garmin launches Descent X10 dive computer
Garmin has announced the release of the Descent X10, a new dive computer designed for both novice and experienced divers. The device features a 2.1-inch high-contrast, backlit, always-on display intended to provide clear visibility of critical data such as depth, dive time, and oxygen levels in various lighting conditions.
The Descent X10 supports multiple dive modes, including scuba, apnea, and gauge modes, and is rated for 10 ATM water resistance. Key technical features include NDL Aware depth metrics, which allow divers to monitor how depth changes affect their no-decompression limits in real time. The device offers up to 50 hours of battery life in dive mode and up to six months in standby mode.
For commercial users, the device introduces a dedicated rental mode, allowing dive shops and schools to configure settings based on a diver’s skill level and quickly reset the unit between uses. The computer can be paired with the Garmin Dive smartphone app for automatic log uploads, location tagging, and a dive simulator to practice scenarios before entering the water. The device housing and bezel incorporate recycled ocean-bound plastics.
