Garmin launches Edge 1060 cycling computer with voice control

Garmin has announced the release of the Edge 1060, a high-end GPS cycling computer that introduces voice control capabilities to the Edge series. The device features a built-in microphone and speaker, allowing users to request training data, manage navigation, and report road hazards using voice commands such as ‘Okay, Garmin’. It also supports sending and receiving voice messages via the Garmin Messenger app.

The Edge 1060 features a 3.5-inch color touchscreen and has been redesigned to be more compact and lightweight, weighing 142 grams. To improve usability, the device includes an increased number of physical buttons. Battery life is rated for up to 20 hours under demanding use or up to 60 hours in battery saver mode, though voice activation is unavailable in the saver mode.

Technical features include real-time stamina monitoring, ClimbPro for hill climbs, and MTB Dynamics for mountain bikers. The device is IPX7 waterproof and includes safety features such as automatic emergency alerts upon detecting an impact.
