Garmin launches Fenix 9 smartwatch series with upgraded display and storage

Garmin has released the Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro, the latest iterations in its flagship outdoor and multisport smartwatch series. The new models feature significant hardware upgrades over the Fenix 8, most notably a much brighter AMOLED display. The Fenix 9 Pro can reach a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, while the standard Fenix 9 offers approximately double the brightness of its predecessor.

Internal storage has doubled to 64GB in the Fenix 9 series, allowing for more topographic maps and music storage. The Fenix 9 Pro also introduces a full titanium housing, whereas previous models utilized a mix of materials. Performance improvements include 50% more RAM and 30% faster map panning. Despite these upgrades, the Fenix 8 remains a competitive option, particularly with recent price discounts bringing it down to approximately $850.
