Garmin solar-powered GPS smartwatches feature extended battery life

Garmin is offering solar-powered GPS smartwatches designed for high durability and extended battery life. The Instinct 2X Solar features Power Glass technology, which can provide nearly unlimited autonomy in smartwatch mode with sufficient sunlight exposure. Built to US military standards, the device is resistant to heat, shock, and water, making it suitable for extreme outdoor activities.

Additionally, the Quatix 7X Solar Edition is tailored for marine environments, integrating navigation tools such as a three-axis compass, gyroscope, and barometric altimeter. While solar charging extends battery life—offering up to 37 days in certain smartwatch configurations—it is noted that intensive use of GPS, music, and mapping may still require regular wired charging.
