Garmin launches fēnix 9 and fēnix 9 Pro smartwatch series
Garmin has officially launched the fēnix 9 and fēnix 9 Pro series, its latest generation of flagship outdoor GPS smartwatches. The new lineup features significant hardware upgrades, including a 50% increase in RAM and doubled internal storage to 64GB. Both models utilize AMOLED displays, with the fēnix 9 Pro offering peak brightness levels of up to 3,000 nits and a 1.5-inch screen on the 51mm variant.
The fēnix 9 Pro distinguishes itself with a full titanium case and advanced connectivity options. Certain Pro models include inReach technology, enabling satellite-based communication such as voice calls, text messages, and SOS alerts without a mobile phone. The series also introduces ‘Garmin Epic,’ a software feature that aggregates multiple activities over periods of up to 92 days into a single cohesive data story within the Garmin Connect app.
Additional performance enhancements include improved map engine speeds, 3D terrain views, and new stamina metrics like ‘stamina zones’ and ‘stamina curves.’ The watches are designed for durability, featuring sapphire crystal glass and water resistance up to 40 meters. Battery life remains a priority, with solar-charging models capable of lasting up to 57 days in smartwatch mode.
