Garmisch-Partenkirchen: Child killed by falling tree during forestry work
A primary school child has died following a tragic accident during forestry work in the northern district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Upper Bavaria. The incident occurred on Friday morning, August 14, shortly after 10:00 AM.
According to the Bavarian Police, the child was in the forest accompanied by an adult to observe or assist with the forestry operations in a child-friendly manner. The child was struck by a felled tree, causing severe injuries. Emergency responders, including paramedics, a doctor, the volunteer fire department, and water rescue teams, arrived at the scene and initiated resuscitation efforts.
The child was airlifted to a specialized clinic via rescue helicopter while undergoing continuous resuscitation, but ultimately succumbed to the injuries. The Criminal Police of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, under the direction of the public prosecutor's office, are investigating the circumstances of the accident. Currently, authorities are treating the event as a tragic accident.
