Garofalo pasta brand to launch in Japan via Monte Bussan

Monte Bussan has announced that it will begin distributing the Italian pasta brand Garofalo in Japan starting in January 2027. Founded in 1789 in Gragnano, Campania, Garofalo is a long-standing manufacturer known for its traditional production methods.

The brand features several quality certifications, including the Pasta di Gragnano IGP under European Union standards and the world’s first ‘al dente certification’ issued by Bureau Veritas. The products are made using bronze dies to create a textured surface that helps sauce adhere to the pasta.

The initial Japanese lineup will include 17 varieties of long pasta—ranging from organic and whole wheat to gluten-free options—and 14 varieties of short pasta. Distribution will target both retail stores and the food service industry, such as restaurants.
