August Summer Festivals Light Up Towns in Spain, Argentina and Chile

Across the Iberian Peninsula and parts of South America, dozens of towns are hosting summer festivals throughout August. In Spain, Amposta (Catalonia) will run its Festes Majors from August 7‑16 with concerts, traditional bull runs and a national paper‑costume contest. Vilafranca del Penedès will feature a performance by the band Maruja Limón, while Garraf (Sitges) plans a six‑day Festa Major with popular meals, sports tournaments and outdoor cinema. In the province of Huelva, the Castillo de Niebla festival presents the play Antígona and a circus‑flamenco show Empaque. Argentina’s cities such as Luján, Mendoza and San Juan offer a packed cultural agenda with theatre, music, dance and free cinema sessions in parks. Chile’s Ñuble region launches the itinerant arts project “Ñuble en Movimiento”, bringing free theatre, dance and puppet shows to seven municipalities, and the Popurrisas variety show “Cebolla” returns to Teatro Mori Recoleta. These events combine live music, dance, theatre, cinema and community activities, aiming to attract families, young people and tourists during the summer holidays.
