Garrotxa Council requests new bus line to improve regional connectivity
The Consell Comarcal de la Garrotxa has requested the Generalitat to establish a second bus line to improve public transport connectivity throughout the region. This initiative follows the success of the existing Rumbus line, which connects Olot with Santa Pau and Les Preses, facilitating access to the Fageda d'en Jordà without the need for private vehicles.
The proposed expansion aims to connect Olot with Argelaguer, passing through municipalities such as Montagut, Sant Joan les Fonts, Tortellà, and Castellfollit de la Roca, as well as various natural spaces. The project includes the creation of nine connection nodes featuring bus stops and deterrent parking lots to discourage car use.
To support sustainable mobility, these nodes will also include secure bicycle parking equipped with repair tools and free electric bicycle charging stations. Albert Danés, president of the Consell Comarcal de la Garrotxa, noted that the current service has been highly positive in preventing increased traffic from visitors.
