Garrotxa leaders demand fulfillment of Mossos d'Esquadra staffing commitment

Local leaders in the Garrotxa region are calling on the Department of the Interior to fulfill a previous commitment to increase the number of Mossos d'Esquadra agents. Albert Danés, president of the Consell Comarcal de la Garrotxa, and Olot Mayor Agustí Arbós have sent a letter to Minister Núria Parlon regarding the shortfall in promised personnel.

Of the 20 additional agents promised, only 14 have arrived so far. Officials are also requesting that the department account for recent retirements within the Garrotxa station to maintain adequate coverage. Danés noted that the region, which has nearly 64,000 inhabitants, often operates with only one or two patrols for the entire county during the night, creating a need for more resources to address robberies, traffic, and public incivility.
