Garry Hunt appointed City of Perth CEO
The City of Perth has appointed former chief executive Garry Hunt to a 12-month contract to fill the vacancy left by Michelle Reynolds. The council endorsed the appointment during a special meeting on Tuesday night while a search for a permanent replacement continues.
Lord Mayor Bruce Reynolds stated that Hunt was chosen for his extensive experience, noting his previous leadership roles in the cities of Perth, Joondalup, and Melville. Hunt, who previously led the City of Perth from 1994 to 2002, is scheduled to begin his new role on October 19.
The vacancy follows the dismissal of Michelle Reynolds on September 22. Her suspension earlier in May followed a confidential meeting with Local Government Inspector Tony Brown regarding a report into claims made against her.
